These roads...

These roads in the darkness
Are cold and long.
The mists are freezing
And your spirits long gone.

Heavily hanging clouds of despair
Obscure you skies
And take all your air.

Nothing to breathe
And nothing to feel;
Just a vast abyss
You are stuck in.

Don't know where you come from,
Don't know where you are,
Don't know where to go,
The way is too far.

Author's note:
Please notice that this fic resulted of the mixture of me coming across a philosphical quote (see below) and playing through one of my favotite games again after a long time of not having played this game. It is set directly after the end of Sonic Heroes and Knuckles' return home to Angel Island. Knowledge of the game's plot is not absolutely necessary but might simplify understanding the story.
Warning: Story includes echidnas in thoughtful moods. May you read it without losing sanity.

For a while I've had the idea of drawing Sonic riding one of the small rockets from Chun-nan. It always seemed a kind of thing he'd really enjoy. ^^

My best friend and a few others too have said the tail of the rocket looks weird and I kind of agree, but I tried a few things to change it, but it didn't really work and I guess I'll just leave it as it is now. Ignore the weird end of the rocket, look at the fire from the exhaust and the sparkly fireworks and Sonic enjoying his flight instead.

Oh my, this is beautiful!

The fireworks looks so amazing and real. You did an epic job of Sonic, too, his pose and the way he's looking over his shoulder. That IS totally the kinda thing he'd like, haha!

Everyone said I should do fireworks for the background and I tried although I thought I couldn't do it... but it turned out rather simple. O_o
Haha, with hobbies like these and his general lifestyle, I doubt Sonic will find any insurance company taking him. ^^

Heh heh, they'd have to design a plan specifically for Sonic just to cover mad scientist attacks, echidna scuffles, rampages by giant killer robots, and freelance rocket-riding.

And it would DEFINITELY have to cover water damages. *shot*
